Last minute recruits N7XM and N8UM made great contributions, no one complained about sleep deprevation or hunger. It was fun, as usual.... MAILING ADDRESS Operating QTH

Club Affiliation YCCC Comments I tried getting two amps going but was unsuccessful, so the effort was at 100 watts. Seems like I had better luck fixing amps in Grenada. Also both packet nodes - Les' and Mike's - were apparently down so I had to read only the North Jersey DX node and could not post spots to the YCCC nodes. I discovered this only minutes before the contest begun. My effort was strictly search and pounce and I took a lot of breaks. Originally I had hoped for 1000QSO's and a million plus points but that was not possible with low power as it took time to work through the pile ups and I was forced to use the band map rather than the point and shoot features of CT which only work when you are connected. There are too many repeat posting and fast scrolling in the window if you are not connected. I was repeatedly surprised when I cracked big pile ups on 20 and 40 with low power. Unfortunately there were some piles that I never cracked such as the A3. But it was fun. When the blackout hit I thought I had receiver or antenna problems and then just took a break for an hour. I figured the band was gone for the rest of the contest. I worked CN8WW, J3A, and HC8N on five bands. One thing I learned is that those guys sending fast cw want to receive it that way too. Some piles I broke only when I switched the CT keyer to 32 wpm. N2GA's low power effort is truly mazing. Congratulations. And who were those guys at J3G? Thanks to all the great ops out there who heard me. I was supposed to be part of a multi-op team but it didn't work out and I wound up as single op, low power from home. Equipment used Yaesu transceiver @ 100w, tribander at 45 feet, dipole.
