Equipment Description: 2-Operating positions, 2 FT-1000MP's, 2-Alpha 87A's, Single HF
tower.
Antennas: Kt34-XA @ 90', KLM 40M4 (4-el 40m) @74', kt34-A @ 55', 252' sloping Windom for
160/80 @ 72'-30', Gap Voyager for dire straits.
For the first time, we had many, many problems with
Murphy and his cohorts. For one thing, although everything was working perfectly the day
before, none of the comm ports on the main machine would talk, so after exhausting efforts
to revive, we first had to re-install everything on another machine (I keep 4 computers
here in the shack, luckily).
So, after a late start due in part to the above problem, and another part due to some
confusion here with the xyl's train, the nanny & baby Cole, and a rapid but necessary
Chinese dinner, every time we got on 40m, the silly computer would crash. Every single
time. That kept us off 40 most of the contest. The logs on the machines are out of synch,
and it wasn't until halfway through the 'test that I decided to pull the ground connection
off of the computer, and 40 started working.
Then, of course, the main 'MP decided it wasn't going to xmit on 10m anymore!!
It was all pretty bizarre.
